Swedish

Classified as the traditional massage technique, a Swedish massage focuses on overall relaxation of the body.  The soft muscles are treated with long gliding strokes, kneading movements, rubbing, and vibration to create a soothing sensation.  This technique is often encouraged for first time massage clients.  I recommend a Swedish massage for those of you finding yourself stressed out, having trouble sleeping, feeling stiff and sore, or simply wish to relax and treat yourself to a little me-time.

Deep Tissue

A Deep Tissue massage uses many of the same movements as the classic Swedish massage but applies more pressure to reach the deep layers of muscle and connective tissues.  It is best used for chronic aches and contracted areas such as stiff neck, upper/lower back pain, and sore shoulders.  I will start with a lighter pressure to warm up the muscles and gradually apply more pressure in slow strokes to break down the “knots” that can cause pain and limit your range of motion.

Hot Stone

In Hot Stone massage, I will use flat and smooth, heated stones to relax and massage the body.  In this method, the stones are used in two ways:  as an extension of my healing hands while I massage with various motions; and as a tool placed on the body allowing tight muscles underneath to warm up and loosen.  With loosened muscles, I can apply lighter pressure for a soothing experience and still achieve an effective massage therapy.  Benefits of a hot stone session includes the relief of muscle tension and promote blood flow to affected areas.  It can also decrease muscle spasms, reduce anxiety, and promote sleep.

Foot Massage

Wind down and relax with a smoothing foot massage.  This will alleviate pain and swelling that can occur after a long day of standing and walking.
